September 20th - The old World: Jewish Life in the Shtel will focus on the lives of Jews who lived in the tiny shtetl communities of eastern Europe in the last years of the 19th and early years of the 20th centuries. The literary works of Yiddish writer Sholem Aleichem speak to us of the religious culture of our bubbes and zaydes. We cry for their suffering, but their humor kept them going. There will be a film about the life of the beloved author Sholem Aleichem.
Both Classes are free and open to all. (men too!) You do not have to attend part 1 to come to part 2. If you need a ride please call Mary Jean at the Temple office or Susan Notar at 845-742-1355.
