Speaker: Newburgh City Councilwoman Genie Abrams
Genie is an author and city councilwoman in Newburgh, and a member of Temple Beth Jacob. Her book Louey Levy's Greatest Catch tells a story of growing up in Newburgh in the late 1950s.
After leaving Newburgh in her teens, Genie returned years later and has become an activist for the city’s revival. When asked what advice she would give others considering moving to Newburgh, especially to those that grew up in the City and left but are considering moving back home? She answered: “Come home! And, excuse the mess: We’re under construction.”
